Last weekend, Food Magazine held a bazaar. It was aptly entitled Presents Perfect as the product selections were truly worth giving away as presents for Christmas!

Happy Ongpauco has outdone herself once again. What a beautiful tribute to her family! This is one women who is making waves in the present by rekindling her past for future generations to likewise appreciate. What an amazing woman!





This sinigang was a winner. I personally loved it. We also had a bangus sisig - but it's not sisig without the crunch so I left that to my dieting friends.

There is not much to do in Tagaytay for 30-boring-somethings. There are no art museums. There's a zip line, a golf course at the Highlands, boatrides to the volcano. But boring beauties don't want to do that. We settled for eating til we felt like oompa loompas.

It was a very intricate and elegant  dinner, the very definition of fine dining come to life. Eating break! This is not about food. I HAD to take these photos (copyright reserved!) of the very uniqe doors and gates at Prado Farm in Lubao, Pampanga. We went last May 7, thanks to a Facebook invite from Cyrene dela Rosa. The creator/artist is Reimon Guttierez, who (I'm told by Cyrene) used to design the interiors of the original Sari-Sari Stores.

Totally not about food but I need to share this. I was fortunate enough to attend THE Mommy Dionisia's party with my friends Daniel and Dante last Sunday evening (press work perks). Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting Olive Puentespina, cheesemaker, at a cheese tasting event at Le Bistro Vert. It was to introduce (or re-introduce) Malagos Farmhouse Cheese. 


Malagos is in Calinan, Davao City. Apparently there's a garden resort with farm tours plus a bird park, a butterfly sanctuary, even a petting zoo.

Dinuguan uses the inerds and blood of a pig to make a stew whose distinctive ingredient is vinegar. The old Bo's Coffee in Glorietta IV is gone but in its place now is Piadina. IMHO you can't fail in serving reliable Italian favorites. Hence, the success of Cibo, Italiannis, Sbarro. But whereas these other three have become institutions, if I may use that word, in their own right, Piadina somehow seems to fall short.

 Just bought a new Canon, an SD90 and having loads of fun with the video function. Had an Elbert's burger yesterday and filmed the crew while waiting in line. Apparently to make their popular cheesesteak is not as complicated as it looks. I guess the key is in the quality of the meat. At Elbert's they use "USDA choice grade beef". Different parts can be used, though.
