Wysgal just inspired me to post with her story on Serendra. Looking at the cup of hot chocolate she had on her blog I remembered I had taken pictures at Serendra as well but enjoyed hot chocolate instead at Cafe Mary Grace.
Although I'm always at Serendra, it was the first time I ever visted Mary Grace, probably because I figure I would have the same fare as in Glorietta IV anyway so I just never bothered to check out her "cafe". Big mistake. The woman just outdid herself with this little patisserie.
On top of her regular and special quezo de bola ensaimadas, she serves flavored ensaymadas in Serendra. They are ohmygodwowmmmgodangsarap good. I tried three. (What can I say - why have one when you can have three?)

There is the Apple Cinnamon ensaimada which for me was the winner of the three. The texture of the basic ensaimada is the same for all but this topping was simply marvelous as it captured the desire of the sweet tooth without going overboard. It may be the cinnamon or the combination of apple with cinnamon that did the trick.
There is a Five Cheese ensaimada which was creative, using Laguna cheese as well, but I think a better selection of cheeses would be nice. But that's just me. I have thing for gorgonzola. Kahit "lasang paa" daw hahaha.
And finally, I also tried the chocolate with banana concoction which is deliriously delish at first bite but too sweet after the second.
I paired these with their Chocnut Tsokolate. Being used to the old fashioned Bulacan hot chocolate that has peanuts, I was skeptical when the waitress said their version was mixed with just Chocnut. After first sip, I gave in because the rich tsokolate did have very strong hints of that old favorite.
I was really very impressed with the execution of Mary Grace. To match the ensaimada-merienda experience, she put garden tables and chairs outside. To put a homey touch, she puts the letters of guests under the table's glass covers, which you actually find yourself reading while waiting for your order/s.
Mary Grace has truly grown over the years. From that little bazaar ensaimada to the kiosks at the malls to this full blown Pinoy patisserie. Everything is executed to graceful - Marygracefull - perfection!

Margaux those pictures are making me drool! I have a thing for gorgonzola too, in fact my philosophy has always been , the stinkier the cheese, the better; though I'll eat all cheese. :)
I enjoy Cafe Mary Grace, it's the most charming restaurant in Serendra, in my opinion, so cozy and warm. And I love that they serve coffee with chili, which I crave for once in a while. :)
Hi, been reading all your posts for some time. :-) You have to try the Mary Grace Hot Chocolate with cinnamon! It's currently one of my favorite cups -- literally like drinking melted chocolate, plus the little kick of spice.
Every time, I see a photo of a Cafe Mary Grace Ensaimada. I cannot help but drool. :P
They look so good. Thanks, Margaux. Lovely post. :)
Next time I drop by Serendra, I will definitely go to Cafe Mary Grace. Mmm!
Christine you so funny - the stinkier the betterer lol. I will have to try that coffee with chili! I've tried aztec hot choco but not chili coffee.
Katrina thanks for making my month! A lot of the time I wonder if anyone even bothers to read this blog lol. Sige I will definitely try the hot choco with cinnamon!
Hey Franco thanks - I am a fan of tableforthree - but I've told you that before :-)
Ack , good thing I reread the comments hehe. I meant Chocolate with chili! So sorry. But hmmm, chili coffee... there's an idea. ;) Sometimes accidents make the best inventions right?
Mary Grace was our first choice when we were there in the dead of Saturday night ... but it was closed by the time we arrived. Must try when I get back to Manila! Great photos! =)
Wysgal! Just read that you are in Canada now. Naku naman and this post was inspired by you! Gosheroo. Well, at least now you can have some hard core French hot choco (you on the French side?)! :-)
