Claude Tayag Exhibit at Alliance

Finally met Claude and Mary Ann Tayag at the Flairtending event hosted by ChefTV. I'd been a big fan of both as writers from their Star columns and since SIM mailed me a copy of Food Trip to review. I was so happy to see that they are really as down to earth as portrayed in the media in spite of such incredible talent. I was especially curious about Mary Ann, whom CT kept referring to as his "darleng" in his book, and who won me over when she told the story of how CT would laugh at her upon seeing her pull out Tabasco sauce instead of lipstick from her bag.

Now call me uncultured but I'd never really known any of CT's works as artist - only as foodie/writer. So when I got the text from his darleng, I did drop by Alliance.

I loved it. Some of the places that he used were places I'd been to - like the gorgeous lady up there is a lady i'd also met and had a photo op with at the Singapore zoo - so it was a really great feeling to be able to relate. Also, his food pics pop out, like you wanna grab them and eat them. I especially liked the lumpia picture, which made me rush to Zao after to grab me some.

The exhibit's on until the 28th I think at Alliance on Reposo. Plus the cultural officer will gladly email you a hi res pic of the works if you ask.

We had a great lunch at Claude Tayag's house in Pampanga. I think he only does that during the summer months, but it's a wonderful experience.
