Beurre Blanc at Resorts World

A whole new world to explore: RESORTS WORLD!
Had lunch (after years - literally - of trying to schedule this) with college friend Jenny Verano. It was a really great catch up lunch - so great talking to her. She's the kind of girl who makes you learn more about yourself while she shares her own stories with you. Also a very efficient power-woman, while waiting for me she decided to get a Resorts World card (for free! and fast!) so we got 5% off our lunch!
We decided on Beurre Blanc after surveying the restaurant floor of Newport Mall which offered New Orleans (wouldn't eat there even at the Fort), Johnny Chow (which showcases itself as "Amazing Chinese" food), Parmigiano, Republiq Cafe (whose menu is actually very promising) and Red Crab. Beurre Blanc had us at "Foie Gras Pasta" which Jenny could not resist.

Foie Gras Pasta. For real.
If you are a foie gras lover, go for it. It is rich, powerfully flavored - simply an indulgence. Jenny was wise to have it using angel hair pasta instead of fettuccini.  .
Meanwhile I could not resist the portabello salad which offered a beautiful charred flavor.
While Jenny killed herself with the foie gras, I went for healthy eating with seabass, which I always order at Le Souffle. Sea bass became my Jessie Sincioco reliable and since the chef here was supposedly trained by her (Beurre Blanc was created by the owners of Le Souffle), I gave it a go. It was good.

What was disappointing was the souffle. As you can see in this picture, it's a little too dry and airy instead of spongy and compact. We also needed a refill of the accompanying chocolate sauce. Maybe the proper wrist movement wasn't practiced. (Only those who have watched Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn will get that last line.)
Anyway it was an altogether satisfying lunch and, thanks to the company, a great experience. The staff, especially the cashier Rain, are also excellent.
