Mr. Kurosawa @ Resorts World

Father Benny Tuazon, the Father of our church family, is going to Mexico next week so we got together for a little despedida at Resorts World. We wanted to try Republiq Cafe but the kitchen was closed by 10pm so we ended up at Mr Kurosawa, by the makers of Sumo Sam.
Commercial Japanese restaurants are not on the top of my fave resto lists because while the creativity is apparent, sometimes ornaments like flour take away from the beauty of Japanese cooking, which capitalizes on natural flavors. But there are some creative items on the menu that I found not only intriguing but also lovely to eat! The first thing that caught my eye was the Foie Gras Sushi but it was a mad P788. Since I wasn't feeling so galante that night, I settled for the next best thing: Wagyu Gyoza.
Wagyu Gyoza
Very soft, as Wagyu is expected to be. I also ordered a Chicken Teriyaki Crepe, by sheer influence of the gorgeous picture on the menu. This was fun to eat but the sweetness of the crepe on top of the sweetness of the rice was a little bit too much.

Almost everyone else ordered a kind of Pepper Lunch specialty, this sizzling plate, which you can order with either chicken or beef. This is filling. But I prefer Pepper Lunch's! Cheap na kung cheap, mas masarap shaaa!
The service is attentive, the wine selection is ok (with a Margaux for P12,000). But for dessert, while they offer fun Jap-ish concoctions like soy yogurt, we HAD to have this amazing Caramel Cake from Becky's Kitchen that Tita Susan brought.

Mr. Kurosawa is festive, creative, affordable (if you select the right pieces), fun.  Kampai!
