The Baguio 2012 Series: Hill Station (on the memories, not the menu - which is hearty fabulous)

During the National Food Showdown Northern Luzon leg, the judges had a dinner at Hill Station hosted by NFS founder Myrna Segismundo and sponsored by Hill Station's Mitos Yniguez. While waiting for dinner by Mitos to be served we munched on hoity toity food from Manila: prosciutto and truffle cheese!

And the chefs and writers posed and posed and posed for the many photos we took of ourselves around the table:
With the amazing Claude Tayag (missing Maryann!)

Dr. Boy Velasquez of Cafe Juanita and Glenda Barreto of Via Mare

Then we went to the Mitos' mini buffet station where we get these:

Robbie Goco enjoying Mitos' cooking

A peek into Claude Tayag's personality: He got a special serving of this pinapaitan. I had the privilege of sitting beside him where he elaborated on how he preferred the dish: with thicker bile, not too brothy, and slightly spicy. He had it returned to the kitchen three times until it met his standards. I would dread to be a cook with him as critic!
Then we were graced with this paella for our main course.

I noted that the waiters walked around with these Miele Guide pins on. Miele's Mario Miranda and Guide founders Aun Koh and Su-Lyn Tan would be  pleased!

I was chaperoned by my family who were happy to order their meals at the next table.

 Baguio. Home of good memories!
