First Impressions

I've tried out two new restaurants in the past two weeks: Felix at Greenbelt 5 and Kabisera at High Street.

Felix is the latest creation of Florabel Co. She is a chubby China doll with creative creations and dinner at Felix is satisfactory and even fun. If you can get past the noise level, it's a good place to date. The restaurant is co-owned by Bench's Ben Chan and Richard Guttierez. Which probably explains the artista population in the crowd. The night I dined the first time, Angelu de Leon and Tin Arnaldo were having dinner. Plus another table with artistas I can't remember the names of. The furniture is simple but tasteful and practical; just like Bench, I guess. And just like the food. I enjoyed the Cappeloni Salad which uses portabello mushrooms. As well as the Mambulao soup, which uses malunggay. I also liked the St. Pierre, which is really just dory with mashed potatoes. The Gaithersburg which is just short ribs was also very satisfying. The dory was borderline salty but if you have with the asparagus that comes with the plate, it's fine. She also sprinkles her plates with bits of bacon, which I found unnecessary. I found the Guangzhou too dry; it's essentially a ham siopao with a slice of cucumber for texture; although this was quite creative.
The Lipa is an interesting sight. It's half-sumans in shot glasses dipped in chocolate. I found the chocolate too dry but the suman quite good. This will not be a favorite restaurant of mine but one that can be recommended to those who simply want a good night out by the mall.

Another restaurant I tried for the first time is Kabisera at the Fort. This is a classy Dencio's. Love this restaurant. Must tries are the Rodrigo's Roast, below, which is a fancy adobo. And Editha's Way, a brazo-cheesecake mix, shown above.

FELIX Level 1 Greenbelt 5, Ayala Avenue, Makati City. 729 9062 or 496 0725. Open Sunday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 12 mn; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Wheelchair accessible. Major credit cards accepted.

KABISERA. Ground Floor, 3rd Quadrant, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. 856-5543 or 856 5545. Wheelchair accessible. Major credit cards accepted.

Hi Margaux. Thanks for the impressions. I've always been curious about Kabisera. Being a Dencio's fan from way back, I always wondered how it would stack up in rarified air of High Street. :)

Hey Margaux. I think Ben Chan co-owns Felix with Richard GOMEZ, not Gutierrez. :) Goma is always seen and holds his own parties there.

Nice blog, sana lang you update it often.

I had dinner in Felix yesterday with my family. If I knew it was co-owned by Richard Gutierrez I probably would not have gone. Haha. Very okay, nothing great, not really worth a return visit with all the other new restaurants popping up.

Oh so sorry yup that was a typo I meant Richard GOMEZ! Lol to Wysgal that she wouldn't have gone had she known it as artista-land. Intellectual snob! Hahaha!

Haha, not really an intellectual snob, more an artista snob. It's about the food, not the artistas! =) As a side note though, I found Felix okay but forgettable. =)
