As you would know if you have been following this blog, I am currently in Mindoro so I haven't been able to post entries. (Sowee.) But Marvin has commented a shout out so here's my reply:
Gawd, when I graduated back in the 80s (grade school), I insisted that we eat at the old Prince Albert (Grade 6 yan haha) then in high school we had my grad dinner at the old L'Opera. Don't follow my footsteps because I'm a high maintenance daughter who demanded the most expensive dining places from her poor daddy-oh who could not refuse!
Now I am quite challenged to find a classy place for a budget. But these are what come to mind from the restaurants I have reviewed:
For Japanese food, try Akitaya on Milelong. They serve really good Jap food at relatively cheap prices. But not the udon, skip that if you want your buck to go a long way. Have instead their teppanyakis and tempuras.
For Italian food, try Bellini's at the Marikina Shoe Expo. The food here is cooked by an Italian native and it is really good and not so expensive.
For steaks ... gosh this is a challenge because good steak comes with a price. But try Duo at Serendra. You can check out the menu outside first and look at the prices. If this doesn't suit you, go Pinoy to nextdoor Abe!
Abe has great Filipino food, really huge servings, attentive staff and very very reasonable prices. It's my favorite restaurant of late. They have hit the Filipino palate to a T (or an F ? as in frikkin good food!). As an alternative to Max, this is the restaurant I would recommend.
Hope this helps.
To the other foodies - if you still bother to check this neglected site, let's help out this fresh grad!
And to Marvin, congratulations and welcome to the Real World!
PS Sorry can't write longer. Working on a project right now and just squeezed this in real fast! Good luck and happy eating!

Hi Margaux,
Duo has a tenderloin ( the smallest size 150 gms or something) that goes for 300 or 350. add a glass of red wine and its about 500 plus tax. And its not bad- it's filling cause they have a healthy heaping of great side vegetables.
Cheers
