Kiko's Burger
Originally uploaded by margauxlicious.
Kiko and Mayone, 2008's celebrity couple among my friends, have conceived, labored and given birth to this Giant Baby Burger. It is the juiciest, yummiest, local beef using burger I have ever tried and I am so fortunate that it was brought to me.
Kiko is actually just visiting from the US of A (for love). I met him in 2004 through an X Man and we became instant friends. Actually, I clung on to him because he works at Yura, a deli in the upper east side, and I was always craving for their pinwheels, hehe. Since that time, he had been toying with the idea of opening his own restaurant. The man likes to cook. However, he'd been too busy (1) losing weight (2) playing the field (3) appreciating single malts and pretty much getting through the busy day by days of the City that the dream was put on hold.
Cut to late 2007 when he meets, falls in love, and is absolutely inspired by the gorgeous Mayone (pronounced May One, as in the date, which is obviously her birthday). He flies to the Philippines and, since they're both still too sexy to be burdened with a baby, opts to create a burger instead.
The burger is deceptively small. As an ode to the Filipino, he makes it small, enough only to fit a bite-size brioche. However, in true Kiko fashion, he gives the meat a lot of ... um ... girth. And, its inside has got cheese. Yup, white cheese. Goat cheese, blue cheese, or carabao cheese. Green mind aside, I believed it was the cheese that gave the burger character. Alas, it was only the beginning of the burger's character building. It is also layered with onions and a secret sauce that will make more Filipinas than Mayone want a piece of Kiko's beef.
Kiko's Burger. Call 0917 810 6291. He's here til October (but Mayone may continue the business after he leaves).

my hubby and kids love burgers... and that looks good... but how do they sell them? as a sandwich or just the patties? thanks for sharing... :)
hi mikky.. we sell them as a sandwich because it has to be cooked a certain way, plus we have our "secret sauce". we can cater for children's parties and we have a lot of other burgers to choose from. all our burgers are made without any extenders because we're very particular with the quality and taste after it has been cooked.
if you have any more questions, email us at francisb76@gmail.com or mayone_pr31@yahoo.com.

hi margaux,
so we have to email them in order to buy the burger? don't they have a stall in any of the weekend markets? how much does it cost?
thanks.
btw, florence says hello.
hi! right now no stall in weekend markets yet. kiko's just on vacation kasi. but you can text 0917 810 6291 for orders. they tried to sell one saturday in salcedo market and sold burgers there at P80 for a kesong puti burger. so i'm assuming if it's blue cheese inside, it'd be a little pricier - but worth the cheese ;-)
