Had a great time Wednesday night 20 October at the third Miele Guide gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt in Macau.
It was the first time that the gala was held outside of Singapore.
Was lucky to be seated beside Lynne, PR Direcor of the Miele Guide, who kept me entertained that evening with lovely stories about her newborn. Lovely, lovely girl.
Happy to see Gaita Fores, Malou and husband Oye Fores, Elbert Cuenca, Suzette Montinola, among others.
It was also great to see Aun Koh, who created the Miele Guide with wife Su-Lyn Tan, who looked gorgeous as always that night, and Mario Miranda of Miele.
Dinner was an exaggerated affair: Kaffir lime cured scallops for starters by Chefs Dylan Jones and Duangporn Songvisava of Bo.lan in Bangkok; followed by a crispy coconut and tensi ebi roll by Chef Tam Kowk Fung of Macau's City of Dreams (who said it took all of three minutes to think of what to serve the night, cracked up the audience); duck leg pastilla by Chef Vincent Thierry of Caprice in Hongkong; and a dessert which met the approval of Gaita, crispy hazelnut and salty caramel with pear sorbet by Chef Alexis Watrin of Hullet House in Hong Kong. Most memorable for me was the first dish, probably because I kept getting warnings about how spicy it was.
Happy to announce that Tonyboy Escalante's Antonio's once again made Top 5!
More on that list later ...
